When you bare your soul, people pay attention. Kamal.'s breakthrough came with the release of "Homebody" in 2020. It’s the story of wallflower, the type who lays loose love dreams over reverby electric guitar scales. An encapsulation of his introspective style, minimalist production and poignant lyricism, the incipient single staged his artistic tableux. A year passed, the North West London native lived a little more,  and released his debut EP, ‘War Outside,’ which solidified him as a songwriter audiences could to turn to for a hit of pathos. The project explores mental health, personal growth, and the complexities of young love. The ghostly “nowhere to hide” bridged things to the debut LP, ‘so here you are, drowning.’ Album opener “free flow” is a project standout. The video - which has more than two million views since it arrived last year - finds him and a love trading tattoos. Frequently compared to Frank Ocean and James Blake, we think Kamal. wields similar permanence. These DSCVR performances certainly leave a mark.
