As her husband James Secord was injured from fighting in the Battle of Queenston Heights she set off for FitzGibbon’s camp on the 22nd. She then walked 32 kilometres avoiding American troops through swampland to give her warning. She would deliver the message and the smaller force of First Nation and British Canadian soldiers would win the Battle of Beaver Dams against the Americans on the 24th of June.
