Tamizhi is a proud declaration of what it truly means to be Tamil, and the beautiful intimacy shared with one of the oldest known languages. It is a global sound that fuses the foreign culture of Hip-Hop with that which is inherently considered Tamilian. The song is performed by ofRo, who has been a force to be reckoned with in the Tamil hip-hop scene. Along with ofRo is Pushpavanam Kuppusamy, who is often credited as the main reason behind Tamil folk music’s mainstream popularity. The duo were joined by Ricardo on the trumpet and Charu Hariharan on the Kanjira and a Spanish handheld percussive instrument. The Kanjira is traditionally a folk instrument and was used as in bhajans for centuries.
