Professor Amar Verma (Naseeruddin Shah) apne bete ki maut ke baad apni biwi Shobha (Soni Razdan) se jhagad kar alag ho jata hai. Is dauraan Veljibhai (Paresh Rawal) ka dhamki bhara call aata hai jo Amar Verma ki life ko aur zyada uljhan mein daal deta hai. Lekin college mein woh apne students ke saath pyaar aur imaandari se behave karta hai, jahan student Pooja uske kareeb ban jaati hai.
