For decades, it has been a tradition that maned wolves go the Sanctuary do Caraca.  
 
Despite their almost nightly presence, these animals are still extemely shy.  
Sitting on the best closest, was the director. He supervised the situation to ensure any visitor was sitting down, quiet and did not move if the wolf was present.  
 
We rented a car and stayed at the monastery four nights. I would recommend staying as long as you can if you enjoy hiking, nature and wildlife photography.  
This nature reserve is an absolutely excellent place to support with tourism.
